I know there are a plethora of hot Marshall pedals out there, but if this one has less noise than my BSIAB II, I'm up for it:

Yeah, I wondered if it was either the 'Contour' control on the GGG BSIAB II, or similar to one of Jack Orman's 'Presence' control circuits for a Big Muff tone section.

From the marketing blurb:

What the Eruption pedal aims at is to achieve the brown sound through the Variac control, just like in the Plexi amp used by Eddie Van Halen*, with the possibility to manage the virtual voltage through this simple control which, if kept at minimum, the character remains the same of a stock Plexi. As this particular control is raised, the same frequencies of an under-powered amp are reduced to emulate the physical phenomenon that reproduce the Variac.

..... well I HIGHLY doubt all of this.

^Oh, I agree completely.
The control on the pedal clearly affects the EQ. If it only affected the gain, volume and/or compression, I MIGHT see some similarity.

I'll say it's most likely a BSIAB/streamlined Pinnacle clone.
