I tried the 3mm I like them but the BAV21s still sound best so far to me! I’m really really liking that zener and mosfet hybrid clipping but there’s so much noise I’m thinking it’s the mosfet I read somewhere they tend to be noisy? Not sure if that’s right but the video proves there’s a lot background noise when engaged.I don't know if that's the logical route or not.(but it's an interesting read)..I'd pick diodes to match the circuit instead of the other way 'round---which end up 3mm red or 1N4148s every time![]()
yup thats what they are i dont have 3v zeners so i used the the closest zener i had.Are you using the 8.2v zeners in that configuration? You will have a forward voltage of around 8.8v there, and assuming a 9v power supply, you have 4.5v either way in a rail to rail op amp, so you're just hearing the op amp clipping at the voltage rails instead of the diodes.
