I have been on a bender with fuzz pedals and enjoying every moment. This one surprised me. I found it to be more like a Big Muff or a hard clipping distortion pedal. With the stock parts, I found it to be “dark,” so referencing several suggestions in the forum, I omitted C18. It helped to brighten the tone. However, I would like it to be a little more brighter.

The name and theme is due to the recent re-emergence of Lord of the Rings, but also to pay homage to all of the Fuzz Lords that help us on this forum.

As an update for any future builders of this pedal: my initial statements stated that the pedal was dark, so I modified the circuit. My original playing was with my Charvel with Seymour Duncan pickups. These pickups tend to run a little hotter, and in my experience, can darken some overdrives and fuzzes. When I played this pedal with my Tele Deluxe, these humbuckers really play nicely with the pedal. The brightness is spot on. It still sounds more like a Big Muff (to me), but sounds great.

I wonder if lowering the volume knob on the Charvel might brighten up the sound?

Thanks for your impressions. I'm building this one next, and I can't really tell from YT videos what to expect. Is this just another BMP in a fancy package? Probably. But I'm interested in what that "tight" switch can do when I want something less fuzzy and more amped.

Good looking build!
