Let me start by saying this wiring is not my finest work. I didn’t realize until I was putting it together that I had used an old power/jack format vs my current board mounted setup. It makes for a little sloppy wiring on my part. That being said lets talk about the build. Its pretty straight forward. There are two oddball parts you will need. First a BE565. Just order it from Robert. No need to look for it. The second oddball part is the vtl5c9. The only regular place I found it was at smallbear. Its $5 i think. On a side note if you need to get anything else from them they have a penny part spot now. I got 100 2n5088’s for $1. I have used a hand-full already and they seem legit. There is a min to buy to be able to get it. It was $25 but I think it’s $50 now. Anyway, I digress. I must admit I have no idea what a ring modulator is. I have learned it is a noise maker, lol. There are some pretty whacky sounds that come out of this thing. I’m not sure how musical they are but thats for someone else to decide. This is the first build I used Roberts cheat sheets for and I admit I really like it. I will find them for other builds in the future whether they have a build doc or not. I will say the only downside is I am not really sure what the trimpot does. I just used it to dial in the most consistent sounds. I am giving it 4 stars just from the musicality perspective. The actual board and layout is 5 stars per the norm. The artwork I left simple. I went with bread perv because its based on the mold spore. The picture is an actual mold spore. Moldy bread etc…. Plus we heard it on Bob’s Burgers and everybody in my house loves that show.
