I built a circuit that called for an LT1054 for its charge pump so that it runs at 36V with a 9V power supply.
I used the LT1054, it worked fine, but squealed quite a bit. So I naively swapped it for a TC1044 rather than the suggested MAX1044 sub, which made the pedal silent. Then, after swapping back to the original LT1054, the pedal now makes squeal and static without any guitar signal.
By using the TC1044, what might I have screwed up to cause the LT1054 to no longer work? If the circuit is unsalvageable, are my TL072s and 2N5457s or anything else of value totaled?
Maybe this belongs in the troubleshooting thread, but more broadly, what can you expect from putting the wrong IC in a charge pump?
