The DEFX "Pretty Tears" project is (IMO) pretty spectacular. Just finished building mine (didn't rock it before boxing it) and fired it up. Bypass works fine. But when I the engaged the pedal (the LED lit up - YAY!) it made no sound. WTH???? So I futzed with the knobs & switches and got nothing. But then after about 5 minutes, the sound started coming thru. Woot! Apparently, the JAN5678 tubes take their good sweet time warming up to enough to produce the awesome sound this unit was designed to do. And WOW! What a spread of fuzz and distortion tones with sweeps and warbles depending on the settings.
Any here's the pictorial journey of the build from beginning to end . . . .
It usually starts with populating the PCB . . . .
Then the enclosure graphics test fitting . . . .
With the graphics verified, on to applying the decal to the drilled enclosure . . . .
It looks horrible while drying, turned out great in the end.
Then the stuffing and completion . . . .
Voia! a Pretty Years pedal in a 'Petty Years' package.
Thanks for looking! Happy building!
