I'm fixing my friends DOD FX86 and there are two issues that I just can't get my head around and i am wondering if anyone else has dealt with these problems before.
Issue one: There seems to be a humming with when I turn the main distortion up (I don't know metal name they call it). In my personal opinion it sounds like grounding issue but I've been unable to find culprit. The only other person I found with this problem was on youtube and their fix was to lower the gain of U1_A (placing a resistor in parallel with R16). That doesn't seem like a real fix to me it feels like unless its to deal with op-amps age. Anyone have a similar issue?
Issue two: the bypass doesn't seem to work. Pressing pedal switch does nothing, I don't know if its an issue with the MC14007UBCP (u3) or the pedal switch itself. Has anyone had a similar issue or a better way to test what the problem might be.
