Sounds like a good starting point (or LZ) ! I have a 76 / .026 looking at me.

76 is great! I tested mine with hFE from 50 all the way to 120, and 60-80 was my favorite range, personally.

I am also on a quest for Ge transistor. I have a few that are in the 70-80 hFE range, with leakage around 37uA, is that too leaky?

Yeah, but it has not been boxed. It's one of several builds I plan to do graphics for before finishing.
But I am not without a finished one! Another unnamed member built the one I'm using. Bucky did a great job as usual!
