DEMO EHX Deluxe Electric Mistress

This is the story of how @dan.schumaker fit 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag 13074.png
Now Dan could fit a neve console in a 1590a so I was never in doubt of his wizardry. He did his usual magic and made it fit without any noise issues.

Why The DEM over the EM. I know lots of people will want the Andy Summers/Gilmour thing and thats fine, but that's not my bag. I have always felt the deluxe redesign was the superior version of the circuit. The EM was more chorus and the DEM is more of a traditional flanger. The range goes deeper, the color goes more extreme without ever becoming all jet plane and unusable. It's got such a rich musical tone and is by far the easiest flanger to use and dial in. The range of all the controls is perfect.

I dialed it in on the scope according to the original ehx calibration notes, which was simple and just double the clock clock frequency accounting for the MN3007. Anti tariff trashcan build with no film. Black aluminum knobs as with the rest of the series. Relay bypass board. Another fantastic build. Sound clip was a cell phone mic capture during testing.

Nice! Another DEM fan here but I’ve always thought I got closer to Gilmours tone with the DEM than with the EM somehow.
Admittedly, I've never been a Gilmour fan and his tone was never something I was after. My biggest gripe with the regular mistress was the somewhat limited range of the frequency sweep and the overbearing brightness of the circuit. It shines best as chorus IMO like Gilmour and Summers often used it. The nice thing about the DEM is that you can set it to sound more like an EM.

It just has a liquid and metallic top end that sound wonderful with a muff. Rare buzz words. The EM was bordering on chorus though. Do you know what delay times each have?
