EOL parts thread

Like I mentioned in bold, other manufacturers are still making this spec . STM is going to discontinue their thru hole spec.

Thought this might be the best place for this rather than a new thread. Received an email from Mouser today.

Does anyone care about this? Probably be inconsequential from a pedal building perspective, happy to provide the actual links if there is interest.

Helps to look at the datasheet to see what the spec and package are. That 4558DR is an SOIC package, but there's also a D (no R) that could still be in production. Same story with the TL072DR, I reckon.

Only one that is striking to my eyes is the MMBF5457 JFET. They dried up in TO-92 a while ago, and we've been flocking to the SMD with adapter boards since. The MMBFJ201 is similar, though not identical in spec, and that one is still around. The other JFET on there, J112 might be in some projects, but burning immediate comes to mind.

Another thing to look at is manufacturer. Hypothetical: TI might discontinue something, but STMicro might still carry it. STMicro are discontinuing many of their BAT4x diodes. Others will have them, but we do love the blue.

These are often just changes to the manufacturing process, datasheet or packaging, not necessarily EOL. Gotta dive into the actual info sheet by the manufacturer to determine whether this concerns us or not.

It's all pretty much that yeah. Just didn't want to create a new thread.
