After my weekend pedal binge I find myself facing a gaping chasm of grief and dread...

My friends.... I....

am out of mini-marbles....

No orange ones, nor beautiful teal ones...

The pretty ruby one I used for Bad Girl 1 was my last, precious, 12mm colored marble... and the blue one I used in the Pro-Filter was verging on a gaudy hue for my refined artistic sensibilities...

I have more coming from China, but who knows when they will finally arrive.

How will I ever realize my dream of finally displacing Brian Wampler from my pedal board???

Quick question :

How do you get these marbles to hold in their holes ?

Are they maintained by the narrowness of the hole ? If so, won't they fall in the enclosure if you shake or drop the stompbox ?

...or maybe there's something stuck under the marble, to hold it in place ?

Chamfer bit and JB weld... it has to be opaque or you get light leaks.


the marble is 12mm, the hole is 7/16" then chamfered a bit with a chamfer bit.

I'll make a tutorial at some point.

I tried hot glue and regular epoxy, but you get these really bad light leaks around the edges. this is a very minor example. I've since fixed all the old messy ones.

Here is a particularly messy example. of what preparation looks like.
In this one, I've got the vellum running side to side rather than top to bottom since there isn't space to fit the LED on the top side of the marble, This one will have an LED on either side.

I've got a lighting effect coming at some point that will blow your minds.... I guarantee you've never seen anything like it...
 
I do have some of those Carnelian Spheres.... You have to pump hella mcd's into them though... Might start getting as warm as a Sushi Box pedal...

There are these very inexpensive diamond drill bits that can drill holes in glass, and rock. You have to lubricate and cool with antifreeze. I bet you could drill a hole in one of those spheres the size of an LED and put it in the center.....
