So, the customer that requested a couple of Biggus Synthus builds wants to go with a smaller enclosure for each, leaving me with two of these big bois -

They measure ~17x11"

Anyway, looking for suggestions for what to stuff these with. I do have an idea for one of em (old-school multifx "synth" not dissimilar to the Biggus Synthus), but I'm still testing out circuits and combos to see if that's the direction I wanna go
 
How much depth do you have to work with? I have tube amps on the mind so I'd be tempted to do a nice little 5E3 or 18 watt marshall in a box like that if the depth was suitable.

Looks like you've already seen the DIY amp thread I started last night. Parts Express sells quite a few of the older but still worthy ICE modules, and Hypex have always been very DIY friendly. Probably best to stay away from eBay or AlliExpress unless you dig counterfeit shizz.

But one strike against those enclosures is that many "EFX racks" only have rackable depths in the 8-10" range. OTOH, you already own them and decent boxes that size tend to get expensive pretty fast.

Yeah, I probably won't be racking it. But I am gonna look more into making one an all in one rig kinda thing. Perhaps even a couple small speakers

I used one of the smaller Hammond angled boxes for a desktop bass preamp for many years. It was super easy to throw different builds in there for testing, and the control ergonomics were pretty great for my purposes.

I have a pair of little Faital neo 4 inchers in a simple dipole arrangement on a small piece of 1/2" plywood. I've never tried running them full range but they absolutely kill as a top box or satellite speaker for ambient EFX. With a sloped enclosure like that you might even be able to wing some kind of quasi-horn appliance...;)
 
Thats a LOT of box.....

I built some matchless lightning clones in 17 x 8 x 3, no slope tho.... It's a 15w AC15-ish build, totally different chassis form, VOX had perpendicular board layouts .....

First time I've looked at this for a long time, I didn't realize I sort of 'abbreviated' the PT on the wiring layout............ I see a lot of things I would do differently now...

The JC preamp I have on hand is maybe slightly larger than a 125b board, so I'd still be left with a ton of room...

Maybe I'll swing for one of those Aion L5 or IVP boards
 
Those are great enclosures, I really dig the 1456 series.

One of your 1456RL1 will easily take the L5 or IVP, you can have top jacks... and you'll still have some space, probably enough for the L5 AND IVP.

L5 only needs about 6"x5" enclosure.
Maybe go with the L5 and PedalPCB Pultech EQ or... Lectric-FX has some pretty big PCBs or snoop around DeadEndFX for some real monster-sized PCBs — definitely fill those 1456 up in a jiffy.




For an all-in-one PPCB thingermabob — preamp, EQ, compression, bit of dirt, the Octo-FV-1 for modulation & reverb and a cab-sim with the headphone amp thrown in.



I'd have to order the 20" 1456WL1 for my all-in-one, as I'll want to cram in an octaver and auto-wah, too.

Yeah, that one was originally meant to be my be all end all box... Ended up hating it and sold it for waaay too little:ROFLMAO:.
I find I definitely prefer the modular approach of a typical pedalboard, but I do see still enjoy a handful of mini-multis

As a photographer I often counsel business people against getting a group shot of their staff. Individual shots are much better. Whenever I take a group shot someone always leaves the next day.

It's the same thing whenever I build a two-in-one OD + Booster, or dual OD. As soon as I build my all-time favourite combo of pedals I find a new one I like better.
 
So, here's where I'm at with my parallel Junk Trunks. Signal will split at the input, going to Glitchee / Junk Trunk 1, Brass master / Junk Trunk 2, and these will be connected to the output with a blend. The junk Trunks will have a couple toggles and rotaries to further shape the filter voices, and the dirt sections will each have a bypass toggle.

Also considering squeezing a Stagefright (Maestro MP-1) in to maximize on the vintage guitar "synth" feel

Something like this -
Just a master bypass footswitch, and I'll use long legged pots on the Stagefright
