When I was first learning about amp building and was introduced to diodes and rectifiers, the standard square full wave rectifier just bothered me. Just one of those things, like some people like red, I like blue. 
and I had an idea about rearranging it so it made more sense to me. When I drew it out, I was sorta amused by its similarity to the star trek federation emblem....
