Fuzz Trouble

Hey folks,
I'm trying out my very first build - a Fuzzy Foxx using a breadboard. I think I've hooked everything up properly but when I plug it in, I get nothing. Just a static hum from my amp, and the indicator LED doesn't light up. Any tips on what might be going wrong?

I've included a few photos, but it's tough to see what's happening.

What does the other pin of the resistor connect to that is connected to the LED, and what value is it (can't quite tell)?

... and it's connected to the positive terminal of the guitar input.

Okay, the guitar input goes to R1 which is a 1m. The LED goes to a 4k7 and then Vcc Edit: through D100.

The left one is positive and the right is negative.

The guitar input is marked with IN.

The power stage has just been separated from the rest of the circuit for space sake.

So the LED circuit is not connected in any way with the larger fuzz circuit?

Only through the power...You can move all of that anywhere on the breadboard along the rails.

The signal from the guitar starts at IN and travels along the path that does not go to ground or 9V.

So is the power input the two circles I referred to earlier? Like does the positive power source have to go through the 1N5817 before connecting to the positive rail?

Alright, major progress - I got the LED to turn on. But I still get that dead-end static hum when I hook it all up to my guitar and amp. Any thoughts? Thanks!

To clarify, is it passing signal? Or when you say "dead-end static hum" you've got nothing coming out...

Static and hum is kind of normal for breadboards, all those long leads are like an apartment rooftop of antennae.

Yeah, I've got nothing. It's like when you turn your amp on with the end of the patch cable just lying on the floor.

Sounds like your dropping signal somewhere. I always miss-place a leg when I breadboard. Those holes are so small…
