Hi everyone--finally joining in the fun around here with my first build report on this forum. I sold a Tone Machine build I had done a while back because it was so rough-looking. I wanted a PCB that was pretty much a straight clone with no mods, so this one definitely fit the bill. I did try to be a bit more intentional with this one compared to the first, though. I noticed on the Foxxes that Aion traced, whether the transistors were high or low gain, they had the highest hfe in the Q1, descending from there. So I used o.g. 2n3565 of 330, 280, 240 and 240 hfe for Q1-Q4. Also, on the diodes, I noticed a lot of folks are using BAT46 for the octave up diodes per a suggestion from Mark Hammer. I used some old 1n279 for those positions as they were closely match at 0.247fv, and they also have a bit of that low-leakage, reverse resistance behavior (thanks again to Chuck and jubal81 for walking me through how to measure that!) so maybe work a bit closer to a Schottky in this context. I used some unmarked diodes of about 0.27fv for the hard clipping diodes, which actually came out of the 1n60 bin in the electronics lab where I work. No idea what they really are! This sounds amazing and seems a bit more musical/less RF prone than my prior build.
Of course, this being my first PedalPCB build, I managed to put the LED in backwards because I forgot the square pad goes with the cathode. It did get fried. Oh well! I'll grab another and swap it out at some point.
