"Germanium" Diodes from Amazon

Has anyone bought a set of "germaniums" from Amazon? I'm looking to use them as clipping diodes mostly. Many of the reviews out the for these, such as a set of 1n34a, say that the voltage drop is correct but they're not actually germaniums. Hence the quotes above. Should I look around eBay instead for 1n270, 1n34a, etc? Not looking to break the bank here

I can't say Amazon is a reputable source for Germanium anything. Most of the third-party dealers of that stuff seem a bit shady to me. Just no way to verify the authenticity of anything. Better to go with a reputable dealer when in doubt. Pedalhacker is a damn good source. As is StompBoxParts. Though I will say Pedalhacker's prices for 1N34A diodes are better. Even the most expensive ones are $8 for a 10-pack, which might seem expensive but consider the fact that they're verified for authenticity. I've never bought anything from them that didn't work.

I have some "1n34a" diodes I bought from Amazon before I knew better and I can send them to you if you want since I don't really plan to use them. But if you want real ones Pedal Hacker is a good resource.
