So, I built this one quite awhile back and it's been hanging about on my to-do list way too long. Haven't used a 1590B in ages, at least not since I discovered the pre-drilled Tayda 125Bs, tailor-made for my highly challenged metalworking skills.

So there's a mild sense of déjà vu going on here. I measured the allocated space with more than customary care and took it really slow, since it's a pretty tight fit. [Restrain yourselves please, colleagues.]

It all worked out ok (largely thanks to the DIY gods not deserting me midway through) and I'm happy with the outcome. One less thing to do and tomorrow I can build anew with a clear conscience.

It's an on-off-on release mod, which does some gentle filtering. Optional, but since it's there I included it anyway: may prove useful for bass as well as guitar.

I build the Janglebox Compressor (PPCB Byrdhouse). That circuit features a three position tone switch. It’s also based on a Dyna-comp…just like the Ross. I wondered if it was similar in function…

The results do seem similar. I love the Byrdhouse BTW but find that less is more with compressors in general. I am not fond of hearing them pump so tend to be very conservative in my settings.
