Has anyone bought a large pedal board anticipating many future builds?

I have been lurking on the Yahoo Japan auctions since I wanted to get a 2nd guitar to ship with my Tokai 335. I then came across a "B" stock Warwick Quad 4.2 pedalboard for slightly less than 60USD new. It is 61 x 32cm so should fit close to 20 pedals. (Also picked up a 1981 Fresher P-bass).

I don't like to have a gazillion pedals all hooked up at once so I just rotate out what fits on my board depending on what I'm doing. I view my board more as a place to mount a power supply and keep everything contained

I’ve had a large board for years. I just swap things out for fun. Realistically I don’t need 8 different phasers on one board, y’know? I want 8 phasers on one board, but I need room for a vocoder, a few synth pedals, a talkbox, some octavers, etc

Well, it might have been a bit of an impulse buy. I realized it will probably be bigger than I want but I will also have my amp on it (Quilter Superblock). I might even get a 2nd superblock to do stereo at some point. I've also toyed with getting a Headrush Mx5 for amp sims and to use as an audio interface.

My little pedaltrain board that I used when I was playing bass in a metal band is basically maxxed out.

Thinking it's getting to be time to DIY a new one.

I bought the 26"x12" (66cm x 33cm) version of this. I forget what its a knockoff of for half the price. I don't play in a band so ymmv but for me personally having such a big one has made me throw stuff on there I never use, and then temporarily reroute from the stuff I actually always use and then forget to set it back up. I have a nano one (regular velcro type) that's just enough for a tuner, compressor, and two other pedals and I keep thinking I should set that one up again.

Shoot, that's just 2060 aluminum extrusion.

Real easy to DIY that one. I use that kind of stuff all the time with my CNC setup. Goes together like Legos.
