The OG tight metal was designed by James Brown(Peavey 5150/dirty dog)
The pro version came out under Alpha after JB sold the company and went to work for EVH.

If you want the designer's goal, the non-pro version is that.
AFAIK, JB had nothing to do with the Pro layout.

That’s very interesting. Always good to know the history.
 
Not sure that's accurate. Doing some web searches it seems to me that JB sold Amptweaker in 2020, or maybe a little earlier. But the original TM Pro's manual has a JB signature and the PDF is dated 2013. It also says "handmade in USA". So the Pro, in my opinion, was done by JB. The Pro II came later and that one was released after JB departed.

I forgot the pro ii even existed. Good call. I'll edit for clarity
