How great is the FV-1!

Keith Barr just got it right.

I just got completely lost for an hour testing out a new fuzz face build into my arachnid pedal. The PedalPCB caverns is an amazing patch. I also really like the two stock FV-1 reverbs. I have a chase bliss dark world (which is also FV-1 based I think) which sounds great, but you have to work at it and learn it to get the most of it whereas the arachnid platform is so simple but still sounds great. I think if I had a spatialist and hydra is one box I would be covered for 99% of my reverb/delay sounds. Might have a look at putting together a dual board.

I got some red dot NKT275s for the fuzzface (sunflower) in a trade with a well known member on the forum. The transistor have perfect specs for a fuzz face. It sounds thick and immense. I’ve had to tear myself away from it otherwise I might just noodle all night.

I agree, although the FV-1 has its limitations it still covers a lot of ground, and if there was ever a combo pedal worth building it’s a Hydra and Spatialist. I would even consider swapping out the Spatialist for deflector… although I haven’t built a deflector.. but I like the way the afterneath sounds.

I just ordered my first fv1 thing this black friday. I got the arachnid with a custom eprom full of patches I want to try. Looking forward to it.

I'm hoping in the future I can find time to write my own programs for it, but it's on long list of hobby things I still don't have the time get into.
