HT8950A -- any way to make it work with Roboto?

I mistakenly bought a few HT8950A, which is DIP16 not DIP18 and is missing 3 of the PIN I/O which are supposed to connect to the ATTINY85 so I think the answer is "NO" but is there any way to hack this so that it will work in the Roboto?

Or does anyone have any idea for some other cool thing I could use these chips for?

Yeah I think it should be a bit clearer in the build guide that HT8950A is not the same thing (since often an extra letter after the numbers on a chip part is functionally meaningless).

You could look at the data sheet for both and compare pin outs for starts, but doesn't seem likely
