That's right, because the standard for pedals is center ground. If the body of the power jack is connected to the sleeve, you will short out the power. I made this mistake the first time I bought a power jack.
Boss really F-ed this one up for everybody.

I used a non isolated power jack and 9 volts DC in the center pin. So the minus is connected to the chassis. The battery minus is interrupted when I plug in the external power plug. I prefer using the battery...

I modified the polarity of the power supply..

and it is working, no short circuit. I know that most pedal power supplies have the minus in the middle.

Reversing the power polarity is very risky because sooner or later, someone will hook up the wrong polarity power adapter to a pedal that lacks reverse polarity protection.

I think you are right. I am going to change this with an isolated power jack.

I fixed it with the same power chassis plug, isolated with a small piece of epoxy and 4 M2 bolds/nuts and minus on the center pin.
