I didn't buy any newly released pedal in all of 2024.

2024 buyer round-up

Nothing new, but new to me:
1)
Danelectro Spring Thing 'cause always wanted one and finally found one for not stupid money (not a great deal, but not bad).
Almost bought a DL4 and couple other things, but talked myself out of it 'cause money doesn't grow on trees anymore.

2)
Not a pedal, but for the price of a pedal, I bought a Marshall Bass Head. Not one of the sought after models, but for the price of a CHEAP pedal...
I keep forgetting that "for the price of a pedal" can mean some serious coin, now.

Had my eye on raster too. How do you like it?
It's a great tool, it has a ton of possibilities
Definitely not a plug and play regular delay, the best comes out when you plug it in your laptop and mess with the editor. It can save more than 100 presets but only the first 4 are available without Midi (the red panda website even has instructions to diy a separate 4 preset switcher)

Currently I have loaded:
A "regular" modulated delay with octave up on the momentary foot switch
A reverse delay with momentary detune
A strange hold/freeze noise maker with a kind of envelope controlled "dive bomb" for lack of a better explanation
A lofi vibrato with optional octave down doubler

But you can get phaser, tremolo, and of course chorus and flange ish sounds out of it. It's stereo and has exp in, so you can control whatever you want (you can even do whammy type stuff).

The biggest doubt I have is to whether keep it in front or in the end of the chain

Yeah, it doesn't feel right that that selling 4 or 5 of my most expensive pedals will buy me a half-decent used car. 🤷‍♂️

I think my favorite pedal of the year has got to be the Chase Bliss Onward. I'm generally not a huge glitchy guy, but something about the Onward just really does it for me. Kinda sounds like a weird, robotic reverb is following your playing around, if that makes sense. I can't get enough of that slow onset hold of what you just played with some bleeps and bloops thrown in.

I also bought the OBNE Dark Star v3. Potentially hot take, but I think I like the v2 better. I love the fact that I can use all of the parameters at once now, but the sound of the v3 is a little more...cold I guess compared to the v2? Hard to explain, and probably wouldn't even be noticeable if you'd only ever played the v3, but the v2 (to my ears at least) has a warmer, raspier sound to it that the v3 loses a bit of.

I'm still waiting on my Chase Bliss Mystery Box (which will be my first Chase Bliss pedal, as I barely have any non-DIY pedals). I also traded for a Microcosm last year and it's been fun, but we'll see if I keep it long term
