The infamous white washers of our community. From what I gather here and on other forums there are 2 viewpoints on them: you either hate em or don't see what the big deal is and why others hate em. In my building experience, I've gone from one to the other. The "hated" camp views these for what they actually are: a cheap piece of plastic and make builds look less polished if placed on the outside of the enclosure. When I first started out I didn't see why there was so much animosity. I was also more thrilled that I built something nearly from scratch. As time went on I tried builds without them and I like the look without them better. My skills both inside and outside the enclosure have increased since starting out as well and taking more care/pride in my builds. I say this, but still hand painting enclosures, lol
Anywho, my wife randomly asked me the other day if I had any small rings or nuts that she could use. Why? She said she wanted to make tie backs for our curtains. Now, I grew up basically under a rock and had my own bachelor pad for a while, so I had no idea what she meant. I grabbed a few things that I thought she was asking about, but they didn't fit the bill for her. Then I grabbed a spare white washer that we all know and "love". That's exactly what she wanted!! So, I took a bunch off of some stomp switches and let her do her thing for an hour or so. I'm just glad I didn't constantly throw these in the garbage which is what I basically do now.
DIY at its finest. I was just the supplier. Plus the eye hooks that we screwed into the trim. That red tree is a Japanese Maple.
