Inkscape Headache

Hey folks,

I am about at the end of my rope with Inkscape and am looking for alternatives. I continue to have the issue where multiple objects in the design don't print and it's driving me absolutely batty. I will spend a few hours making something and getting it perfect and then a few days later when I am ready to actually do the work I go to print it and half the image isn't there and I spend another hour smashing my head in to the monitor and missing my window for actually putting the artwork on the pedal.

I found a work-around online which requires copying a bitmap image and putting it in a new layer and while that allows me to print everything it also degrades the image a crazy amount. I'm just sick of it and would like something that works and actually prints what I have on the screen.

In the meantime, if anyone knows of a fix, here is an example of what I am talking about. The one on the left was printed in HQ as I normally would and you can see it's missing almost all of the drill markings. The one on the right is "fixed" has everything, but you can see even in this bad photo that the quality is awful.

Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

Are the drills in a layer that is somehow being masked or prevented from being printed? That seems like a pretty specific design element to just drop out.

So for the record I have practically zero experience with any kind of design program. I am just fiddling my way through with very basic tools.

That was a long winded way of me saying that I only use a single layer in every design I've made, except to experiment with what I mentioned in the OP. I don't think that there should be anything hidden since it's all in a single layer, but please feel free to talk to me as you would a 5 year old when it comes to these graphic design programs and assume I know next to nothing 🤣

I’ve had that issue with Inkscape many times myself. I’ve found that exporting it as a pdf, and then printing from the PDF in acrobat or whatever other PDF reader usually works

I will give that a shot. I think that I had tried converting to PDF when I was first trying to figure this stuff out and the quality of the PDF was not as good as printing directly from Inkscape, but it's possible/likely I was just missing something. I'll give it another go, thanks.

I had a similar issue. The cause of mine was there was a hidden (white object) off the page so it wouldn’t print anything on that file but I could export to a bitmap and print with a lower quality like you... I ended up just scraping the file and started over and had no problems then... but yeah it was a couple of days of “WTF” at one point I even thought I was out of ink and that was the cause... nope! Lol..So I have some extra ink cartridges in reserve now.😐
