This is another board that @Audandash sent me recently.
I've built @Robert's version of this before and also built the Clark Gainster on the same board.
The Gainster leans more heavily towards a TS808 where the Red Snapper leans a bit more towards the Boss SD-1.
On this version I used SD-1 clipping diodes (1S2473)
Before all ye of little faith roll your eyes and say there's no difference between SI diodes, just believe that I believe, hahaha.
I hear a difference between 1N4148 and 1S1588 and 1S2473's. Subtle, yes, but a difference.
Anyway, I love this overdrive. I compared it side by side with my SD-1 build (PPCB UberDrive) and was pretty gobsmacked how close they sound.
The difference being that with the CUT and BITE controls on the Snapper you can dial out the mid hump and make it a more "transparent" drive.
Or boost the mids or add some extra sizzle with the Bite control.
I had not played my Red Herring (Snapper) pedal in a while, in fact I can't find it. I may have accidentally "recycled" it.
Super glad to have an awesome sounding replacement!
Thanks Ashley!!
