Kliché Boost/Clean?

So I ordered a few boards, but the one that's throwing me off is the Kliché Boost (PCB142); on the site it shows Germanium diodes.
I downloaded the docs and immediately started making a list of all the parts I needed for multiple boards. I didn't realize that from that page it downloads the docs for the Kliché Clean, which replaces those diodes with 1N456A (and I should note 1/8W resistors). It's very similar to the Kliché Mini aside from the diodes.
So what I got shows PCB142 Rev 2. Does any one have these docs that have the 1N456A diodes and 1/4W resistors, cause i'm pretty sure these aren't 1/8W, right?
Or did i miss something?

Old thread, but I'm trying to understand this one too.

Comparing the build guides (KlicheMini, KlicheBoost), I spot a few very minor differences between the boards.
  • The spacing of D1 / D2 to accommodate for Ge vs Si diodes.
  • The dual-ganged pot label 'Drive' replaced with 'Color'
  • R9 marked for 2k in the OD, 51k in the Boost
  • R11 marked for 411k in the OD, 150k in the Boost.
So overall the differences are:
  • The Diodes: The OD has 0.6V (±300mv) of headroom while the Boost has 2V (±1V) of headroom
  • The Resistors: The OD has 25.18 Gain available at IC1.2 while the Boost has 3.27 Gain available at IC1.2
The design changes between the two seem a little lazy to me. It's a simple mod that would have fit on a DPDT toggle switch. I find it irritating that a 'Clean Boost' would have hard, diode-to-ground clipping right off the Opamp like that. Why they bothered putting a Voltage Multiplier in a circuit with such low headroom is beyond me; the TL072 should perform the same at 9V (±4.5V) as it does 27V (±13.5). From what I know about this circuit, it was designed by a professional Audio engineer so maybe there is something I'm missing.

But with that said, the difference in distortion coming out of these two circuits should be massive.

If anyone actually read this, yes the Clean should clip on it's own when the Color control is maxed and you dig into the strings, but just a little bit.

Now I wonder if the J Rockett Mark Sampson Max is another 2-knob Klon too. It has the same control layout as the Lenny.

I was considering buying one to trace it, but I'd hate to put that time investment into it just to find out it's another modded Klon.
