My wife and I seem to buy every second computer we need. We use computers a lot - me for photography (my day job) and her for writing - her day job and other job.
Just recently my 10-year+ old G5 started playing up - and just in time my brother sent me a near-new iMac desktop computer with a huge screen. It's super fast for all my photography stuff. My bro is a computer nerd, started his working life at IBM and loves buying computers and cameras. He loves Apple for his own photography but likes to build massive PCs too for other work. We're an Apple-only household, although my wife brings home a weird laptop from work too. I've never had to use a PC for more than 10 minutes and I'm pretty happy about that. I'm fine with my sexuality. I do find the "look" of the screen on a PC is ugly. They just look ugly and a bit muddy to me.
Whenever I have to update I'm shocked at how old my computers are. It seems like I only bought them last year but then I find ten years have gone by... It's quite disturbing.
