Let the Pastel disappointment continue

Not sure why this is even a thing. Who asked for this or more appropriately what interview identified this as the “secret sauce” to someone’s famous tone? Whatever. There are some sounds in here that aren’t terrible, but the amount of parts compared to ROI is incredibly disproportionate. I did use the MPSA18s because fuck the mojo parts rabbit hole. I also did not attempt to match resistor values exactly. 39k is damn well close enough to 38.3. I was hoping for a little more clean pre available but alas, none to be found. I find once the pre gets past ab noon it starts getting gated. I haven’t listened to enough demos to know if that how it supposed to do but meh. As always I’m glad I didn’t go through the trouble of putting effort into labels etc.

Thanks for the bad memories Josh….

Sorry you had to find out the hard way. At least your build looks good. If I recall this pedal had a very long wish list thread 🤷
Thanks man. Def keeps me from going down the road of the peavey pre pedals etc. if I want to sound like shit I’ll just go spend the $50 at musicgoround and then Office Space the MF’er after 5min

GREAT-looking build.

Add some simple labelling and it would sell well.

I vaguely recall a few build reports that were positive about this circuit. One that sticks out, it was more enthused about the unusual control-layout.

This is one of the few hype-PCBs I've not ordered, yet. May still do so. I've got a great graphic for it. If and when I learn to apply graphics.

Sorry to hear it didn't flip your sonic-switch.

Thanks. I mean a red crayon and lettering and I’d be…….cease and desisted 🤣. Meh on the pile it goes maybe to be played every once in awhile, maybe to be sold. Maybe you will find it more to your liking.

Maybe you'll pull it off the shelf one day and it works with a particular amp/guitar combination ... baritone & bassman? LP with P90s & Hiwatt?
Who knows? Only fate! 🤪

Agree, it sounds like ass but looks cool. It's a little extra work, but if you wire the pots and switches offboard using another 3-knob/2-toggle PCB, you can reuse this enclosure to make something that else doesn't sound like a dying 10W Squier starter kit practice amp.
