I didn't see a thread with this topic (at least I didn't find anything with a thread title search) so I figured I might as well start one. We already have a show your amps and instruments thread, so why not our home studios?
I'll get us started with my humble attempt at a DAW-less setup:
I am using the mixer as the sort of neural center of everything: the MPC feeds in to the stereo channel along with a line for guitar/bass, mic, drum machine, and synth. I then use the main stereo outs of the mixer and feed it right back in to the MPC (or to a digital Tascam Portastudio, which isn't pictured). I can also use the USB channel to go to my PC but I really hate working in a PC.
As an aside: this community has had me playing much more music than I was a year ago. It has been very slow going to motivate myself to make music again but I am feeling on my way. In the past few weeks I have started actually using all of this stuff after spending the previous few months playing a lot of bass and guitar. I'm starting to make more time and have more fun with it. Even just coming up with a quick beat on the Drumbrute and jamming bass over it was a challenge for me to just get off the couch and do it. A lack of motivation has been dragging me down for a while so I just wanted to thank this community for helping to get me inspired to try new things... or to actually just try, really. Thank you.
Now let's see your studios! I'm stoked to see what kind of setups you all are using.
