I would but, my skills don’t go beyond creating text boxes in Microsoft paint and stealing clip art on google.I was hoping to see more participation in this thread,
The tube guy I wade was about 4 different graphics/clip art photoshopped together... you will never knock one out of the park unless you start swinging... just give it a go you only get better the more you do it.I would but, my skills don’t go beyond creating text boxes in Microsoft paint and stealing clip art on google.
Wasn’t that the point Bob Ross was trying to make “all you have to do is keep trying”?We can’t all be Bob Ross…

This is brilliantI finally was able to put together a draft of the idea I had for my entry before going to bed tonight. This is actually an idea I’ve had for a few years, but this contest made me decide to finally mock it up.
Inspired by the other iconic 808, I drew inspiration by the confusion I’ve encountered with a electronic-musician friend of mine by having some of the most iconic equipment in our respective genres— the TR-808 and the TS-808, being a single letter apart from each other. I tried incorporating the most defining characteristics of the TR-808’s aesthetic (such as the iconic colored buttons becoming a footswitch-area line-array as seen on many pedal designs, with the “tubescreamer text” above each stripe in the array representing the cream-colored step numbering above each step button in the TR-808; the “computer controlled” text altered to represent the op amp topology of the TS circuit; and my own adaptation of the Roland logo to represent my own identity) while also keeping some of the quirks of the classic tubescreamer imagery— namely the somewhat unusual way of labeling the level and drive knobs below the knob, while labeling the tone knob above, as well as a 3mm green status LED to keep the obligatory TS green from being lost altogether.
I definitely would like to change the title font to something else that’s closer to the serif gothic font of the original TR-808, as well as adjusting some of the colors and the spacing between the central three lines of text, but overall I’m actually pretty happy about how this design came out for a rough draft! Anyway, here’s it is (with the hardware mocked up in an additional layer):
Tubular! If I were to desire a screamer of tubes, this is what I'd put on it. It's a tube getting tube screamed in a tube.View attachment 18254
I was finally able to find the (mostly) correct font for the original “Rhythm Composer TR-808” logo, and with just a few kerning tweaks, I got it to where I’m happy with it (and I’m just thrilled to finally have the awful Coolvetica font out of use). I also adjusted the vertical spacing of the text, and just *slightly* bumped the saturation of the yellow bars and cream “T U B E S C R E A M E R” lettering (and recentered them, since I accidentally bumped them .2mm to the right before exporting the first time).I finally was able to put together a draft of the idea I had for my entry before going to bed tonight. Absolutely!@jjjimi84 I thought I had mentioned I wasn’t entertaining the contest, I was just having some fun. I’m not going to reverse my decision on that now that you sweetened the pot. That just doesn’t seem ethical to me. But maybe I’ll hit you up about a painted enclosure down the line if you are game.?
