Back in the early 90's, when PC DAWs were still only at a DOS level and before the "Lord of the Rings" and the "The Hobbit" movies were even scripted, I was deeply inspired by the Tolkien trilogy and all stories concerning "Middle Earth". As sophomoric as it comes off after seeing and hearing what was done with creative talents that brought us the adventures of Bilbo, Frodo, Gandalf, Elves, Dwarves, Orks, Goblins and Sauron, I set about using what tools I had back then to create a composition of my own. "The Return (suite)" was composed after I finished reading the last book of the trilogy - "The Return of the King".
Using only Calkewalk 4.0 for DOS, what minimal audio tools MS Windows had at the time, and all my own performances, I used a hodge-lodge of MIDI and audio recordings to assemble this piece. Anyway, I stumbled across this old thing again this morning after watching the latest episode of "The Rings of Power" last night. So with your leave, I present the "The Return (suite)" for listening pleasure/abuse.
The Return (suite)
Now you know why my composing career didn't go far. LOL!
