I wanted to try a TS variant, but was pessimistic about the idea. I have always had the notion that I was a Bluesbreaker man, and I could not enjoy a TS style pedal.
Well, I can honestly state that there is love in my heart for a tubescreamer, but it does not replace the Bliesbreaker. Fortunately, they are different enough to enjoy a role on my pedalboard.
This build was more difficult for me. First, the Mosfet (2n7000) was bad or I destroyed it when soldering. Next, I did not recognize an intermittent short caused by the 9mm pot’s support leg resting on a resistor. Once corrected, I got the pedal working with charm.
I think the art design is self explanatory as a tribute to Mr. Vaughn and made with vinyl decals. The enclosure is a really nice piece from Stompboxparts. It has a wonderful finish.
