This is a bit off topic but not really how do you solder smd parts I just bought a few mmbfj201s and thought how hard could it be ( my naive brain)

I had challenges at first but it’s really simple.

First, generously tin the pads. Then use tweezers to hold the SMD part in place. Then just hold the iron onto the SMD leg and press it down into the tinned pad. Bosh.

You can add more solder afterwards if you’re paranoid but I’ve done hundreds of transistors this way and never had a problem.

I held the J201 chip in place with an alligator clip (smooth, no "teeth") and soldered it as I normally would doing it quickly as possible. I then tested it on my transistor tester to see if it was damaged. Did 3 with no issues.
