I love my overdrives, but man, I haven't had this much fun with a pedal in awhile! You can go full disco, Zappa, George Clinton if you want, but I was looking for more of a hippy vibe and I sure found it. When I first plugged it in, I seemed to immediately find that sweet spot when setting the controls around noon, the rotary in first position and the switches on low. In less than a minute I was like Jerry Garcia with high blood sugar, grooving out "Fire on the Mountain," putting the rhythm on loop and just jamming with a grin on my face like a teenager...and no drugs were involved! Next thing you know I'm Tim Mahoney smoothly laying down the main riff to "Amber" and boy did it sound like a real Mutron III to me.

As others (and Fuzzdog) have mentioned, the vactrols are vital and I was able to find those easily at tubesandmoore.com. Smooth easy build, and I had no problems fitting the 4 pots and rotary into the 1590B. Went with a funky (and fitting, I think) neon yellow (love my switches).

Can't recommend this build enough. I'm just at the tip of the iceberg with it, as the possibilities are myriad in number. Fuzzdog is currently sold out but keep an eye out. You're going to want this one!

Nice job!!! I recently finished up a couple of these - LOVE them. What did you use for your rotary switch? I used an Alpha and the toggles and pots BARELY made it back through the board so it was a bytch to get into the enclosure.

I did some surgery to the rotary when I did mine. I have a second one to build that I might get around to this weekend. I’ll try to take pics of what I did.

Thanks! I also used an Alpha and it was a snug fit but I was able to take it in and out of the enclosure without much trouble. Did you use dust covers or pot insulators? I usually do but no room for either here, so I had to have the height of the pots at just the right level over the board to make it work. Maybe I just got lucky
