Funny you should say that.. When we bought our house (our only house we ever bought) 33 years ago about 400metres down the road was one of our cities prime original music pubs. It was a pub that I had been going to since I was in year 11 at school. In those days getting into see bands at pubs at 16 was easy. I was never asked for ID. I saw many great bands in that pub, including the Church, Do Re Mi, Painters and Dockers, Hunters and Collectors, The Clouds, The Go Betweens, The Ain'ts, Laughing Clowns, pretty much any band in Australia which was any good played there, and we could walk there and back.

When my band would support one of the bigger bands I could drop my gear home as soon as we finished and walk back without missing a song. It had a great front bar with pool tables and a saloon bar with the old folks and a honky-tonk piano. I really miss that pub. It was sold, renovated and turned into an old folks home, like so many great suburban bars here. Our original music scene never recovered.
