MP16B

Finally got a TC1 and was able to test a stash of MP16Bs I bought years ago on eBay. The hFE is consistently 50-60 with a couple outliers (72 and 80). Vbe consistently between 218mV and 234mV, Ic consistently 6.7mA, Iceo between 28uA and 37uA (with one outlier at 47uA). For one of the transistors, the TC1 also measured Ices at 4uA - I assume it's negligible for the others.

Here's my sheet:

I was planning on using the low hFE ones for the Mystery Machine and the outliers for a Simulcast and Duocast builds.

I ordered a set of 100 GT308V from eBay that I look forward to sorting... Fun times.

Yeah, the M-series seems really good. Got a batch of M20A that I’ve been pretty happy with. Those have been pretty consistent too.
They’re very good! I’ve had consistently great experiences with MP16b’s, MP20, MP20b, MP21, MP21a & b (all PNP) as well as their NPN counterpart, MP38 and MP38A’s. When I started purchasing lots of 100 of all of these (for around $15-$30 a lot) a few years ago they were plentiful and inexpensive. While there seem to still be quite a few MP16b’s floating around, the others are very few and far between. Last time I purchased a lot of MP38’s they were $1 a piece for 100 of them.

This guy is great. I’ve bought handfuls off of his store. Not one a dud.

This fella is also great:
