My first tayda powder coat issue

Well had my first tayda powder coat issue. It almost seems like the powder coat just didnt bond with the aluminum well. Im using a faceplate for this build so it mifht be ok. Depending on how the footswitch and jacks turn out. Anyone else have one like this they used? Onky concern is future flaking i guess.

Perhaps if you're concerned about chipping down the road you might want to take some rattle can clear coat on it. Or epoxy.

I had that with a white one recently, thought it was me going too fast.

I will take pictures and share it tonight.

I think its actually going to be ok, have it all put together and beneath the washers no signs of issue. Almost used a white one on the footswitch lol

I had a black one a few years ago that I messed up the laser design on and I was able to just peel it all off in one shot. It actually made my life a lot easier 😂

I would put down some painters tape, squeegee it down till you can see the holes, and drill that way. Just don't use the beige stuff, which I've found to be much stronger adhesive. Frog tape should work okay. Low-medium tack is all you want.

I did 4 enclosures at the same time. This is the only one that left that nipple when i did the center punch, never had one do that. Ive done a lot, though the painters tape is a good idea.

The worst is when it happens on the led hole .. it happens… I told tayda about this issue… I only buy matte colors now … they didn’t care much or even mention it in the reply.

That’s definitely bad adhesion. Hit Hugo up, if for no other reason than so they can be aware of potential issues
I agree, I'd be interested to see what he says - plus, you'll almost certainly get a credit/refund. Businesses like to know this stuff, as it winds up saving them aggravation and money in the future if they can get ahead of it. I was thinking of getting some powdercoated enclosures from them, and this is giving me pause...

I shot a message on his page, i also boufht this enclosure 3 months ago. I but 20 or so at a time ussually and just work through them. Hate shipping costs.

I will say this is my first real bad experience (beyond chromium being ridiculously fragile, but i just avoid that one). Id guess ive probably go through 50 powder coats this year and this ks my first bad one. These are better than the similarly priced from LMS. The one ive bought from
Stompboxparts was reallt good though.

Gotcha. Good to know that LMS is kinda 3rd after Tayda and SBP. I’ve had good experiences with SPB generally, so I’ll check out their enclosure prices. You’re talking about all powdercoats, not just sparkle I assume? Sounds like a weird question, but as a screen printer I know those shimmery coats can be particularly fussy!

Interesting. Just opened my tayda package from friday (i might have a problem). New stamp? Also the shrink wrap is distinctly different. Less crisp, far more pliable.
