Cattle Driver Volume pot operating issue

My Cattle Driver build don't operate as expected and I need help to sort it out.

Starting from volume pot at zero, I open the potentiometer slowly. At the very first beginning of the stroke there's no sound at all. Arrived at some point 1 the sound arrives suddenly, not gradually.
Once past this point, I continue the potentiometer stroke to point 2, the volume has not changed since point 1. From this point 2 and until the end of the stroke, the volume remains the same but seems to have increased a little bit compared to the first plateau.
I don't get what's wrong, I swapped IC1 and the circuit still behaves the same.

What is exactly is the issue? A100 pot for volume sounds like it's behaving correctly..... are you using the gain knob as well? if you have the gain turned down all the way it would possible react in a low volume manner..
