So I used to own an Ampeg VH140c 10+ years ago and loved it to death. One day it fried and I did not possess the repair skills I have today so it just sat collecting dust until I basically threw it out. (I kept all but the power supply boards)

Longing for the simple and brutal metal tone it puts out lead me down the rabbit hole of designing and redesigning (a few times) a preamp pedal to mimic it but I never got it right and SNK did it better so I gave up on it.

Then yesterday happened. I logged in to Facebook for the first time in awhile to check marketplace and there it was.

Behold the Ampeg SS140C I got for 200 dollars. Clean channel reminiscent of a JC120 and a ridiculously metal gain channel. I could not be happier right now!

With the skills you now possess you could slowly add more knobs to it. It needs more knobs.

(Edit) Oh I definitely need an ULTRA MID on one of my amps! Standard mids just don't cut it for me any more!!

Sorry - not ragging on you! I just love the names for controls these days!
 
That thing looks awesome! I love my Ampeg V7. I think they've had a lot of gems over the years besides the usual SVT, V22, Gemini, etc.
