This was spawned from getting an amazing new job offer and accepting it. Wasn’t planing on leaving my current job but can’t pass this opportunity up. This amp is like a reward of sorts for landing the gig. That’s my reasoning! Just not sure if I want to blow that much for an amp when I have a 12” Super champ already. But it’s soooo pretty.
I’ll give it a few more days…. The only gear I have to let go is my strat but I know if I sell that I will want it back.

I've played a few of the recent Fender PRRIs. I try really hard to like them, but just can't. It's that awful Fender low end thing once any kind of clipping starts. I can't stand it, and the Princeton does it worse than almost any other amp, save for the Vibrolux Custom maybe. The Deluxe is the smallest I can do in BF Fenders. I MUCH prefer a good tweed. With an oversize power transformer.
I rebuilt a PRRI for a friend a couple of years ago, with a Merc Magnetic PT which was bigger than stock. It sounded so much better! The reverb was way quieter after the rebuild too.
But don't listen to me. I don't really like any BF Fender these days.

Well, for some reason you guys always back my purchase ideas with enthusiasm so of course I’m going to ask lolol. Not going to ask my wife, just going to show her the shiny new thing if I order one. Reached out to my lackluster Sweetwater rep. He would only budge $50. Hmmmm does anyone remember if these go on sale during Black Friday?

The new Fender transformers are made in China. I don't think their QA is very good. Myself I'd rather buy some Heyboer transformers and put one together. I think Mojo makes a princeton kit. umm... ok I checked. Cabinett and speaker sold separately. Mojo is an official Heyboer distributor.
I started building amps about 20 years ago, not sure of the exact date. I do not think they are any harder than pedals myself, actually easier in the sense that you don't need tweezers to pick the components up.....

Do it. Since I had my amp fire sale last year the Princeton is the one I miss the most. I had a 10" speaker in mine though and it was glorious, so much more bottom end than you'd think.

Agreed! Transformers are one of the key ingredients.
I priced this route out before looking at Sweetwater for a fender built one. The problem I keep running into building is once you add all the extras ( cab, speaker, so on) the savings is there but it’s not that much less and even though I do plan on building an amp soon I think I’d rather have the fender built Princeton. With that said, I know I’ll have to swap caps at least sooner than later. Ugh. If thing was on sale for $1,200 I’d be showing photos of it in my room instead of going back and forth over it. Lol.
