NGD for BtR

It’s been years since I’ve had a new guitar. The last one I got was a Les Paul Silverburst back in 2009 on the day Les Paul passed away. I’ve built one from a kit since then but the intonation is crap.

Playing style I’m more of a heavy rock/metal primary but I dabble in some blues.

This is a Schecter Omen Extreme 6 and found it on musiciansfriend on sale for $400 with tax. It’s normally priced around $500. I’m not a huge fan of getting super high end guitars since I’m just a basement player and the reviews I’ve seen across the board are good bang for your buck. 2 humbuckers with a coil split tap, 24 jumbo frets, large fretboard radius, and isn’t that heavy. I may mod this one at some point down the road, but it’s nice to have a guitar that plays really nicely. I’ve worn out some of the frets on my other guitars and don’t want to shell out the cash to refret them. The finish is really nice too. If your wife says it’s a really pretty guitar you know you’ve struck gold. I’ve only played it for about an hour today and hope I get some more time with it this long holiday weekend. It is Labor Day on Monday for those not in the US.

I'm usually not a big fan of quilt tops, but that is really nice. One of my first nice guitars was a Schecter C1+ I bought from a friend back in the day. Really wish I wouldn't have gotten rid of it. I loved the neck and jumbo frets on that thing.

Thank you for bumping this or I’d have missed it altogether @cdwillis !

I’ve never played a Schecter but it sure looks nice

How are you liking it BtR?
Bruh. This thing is sweeeeeet! A new guitar definitely inspires me to play. I try to be a sweet lead player, but cool riffs tend to be my specialty. The C neck and flatter fretboard radius make me feel like I can play faster or at least gnarlier 🤟

Would definitely recommend this if you’ve got the cash. The coil tap is a nice feature too.

I think if I ended up with another Schecter it would be a Tempest. I always thought that was a cool body shape that's kind of vintagey, but a fresh take at the time.

Honestly, what drew me to Schecter was that it was different. I already have a strat and a LP that are quite worn out. I still need to figure out how to fix up a lot of the worn out frets.

CHOICE!

I love blue on quilted maple, always looks like waves of water. I like quilted maple better than flame maple, as to my eye quilted looks more like flames than flame-maple.
