NGD! What? Again.......??? 10-29-23 Demo added

Well, I still can't decide what I want to do with the wiring on this guitar. I'm leaning away from the Bass Contour as it's pretty bright already.

I'm still thinking about turning it into a 4 knob Gibson style layout but haven't decided yet.

In the meantime, I swapped out the pickups. I put the new set of Zhangbucker P90's in my Goldtop. (They are sublime and worthy of a post update on their own).

I took the Planet Tone Elite Pro and Hot 56 P90's and put them in the Squier, replaced all the crappy wiring, put in a Switchcraft toggle and jack.

It sounds pretty good. It's definitely a bit surreal playing it. I mean, it feels like a strat but also a bit like an LP Special.

Tonally, there's still the Fender thing going on. Whether it's the maple neck, or the bolt on construction, I don't know. But it's got a bit of that top end chime even with the hotter pickups.

The bridge pickup can get rude and snarly like a Special or a Junior as well.

What a cool guitar! I like it!

Been giving some thought to your suggestion of installing a Bass Contour/Focus control.
(And moving the toggle to the lower horn.

I'm not sure what values G&L or Reverend uses but I think both are pretty effective.

I came across this circuit.

But from what I've read, a 1M pot might be more effective. Like a C1M.

Thoughts?

I have both a Reverend and a G&L and I love the bass contour on both. I must say it’s not as useful in my S500 because the low end is not as pronounced as the revtron pickups so I don’t tend to use it as much.
