Now Playing... What are you Listening to Right Now?

My 8-year-old son has forced me to listen to Surface Pressure off the Encanto soundtrack pretty much everyday for school drop-off and pickup. Strangely enough, I can't say I'm sick of it just yet. Clever song really. Lin-Manuel Miranda's influence is all over it for sure.

My daughter loves this song, too, and I think that the lyrics are great. I always seem to have either that song or the "You're Welcome" song from Moana in my head. It's catchy and pretty funny as well. She's helping me get over my knee-jerk anti-Disney reaction.

Yeah, both Moana and Encanto are solid movies. I’m sort of surprised Disney made them.
I live within sight of the Disneyland nightly fireworks and have most of my life - it's impossible escaping them but before watching Moana with the kiddo I think the last Disney movie I'd actually seen all the way through was Aladdin.

Once she becomes aware that we live two freeway exits up the road from the place I'm not sure I'll survive!

Ohhh, you have my condolences. Though I wouldn’t mind seeing that Star Wars thing.

They had some help from Pixar. :P

Weird thought. Virtually every Disney animated movie has musical number. Whereas most Pixar movies have none. Only Pixar movie I'm aware of that has musical numbers is Coco. Even then, the music is more performance oriented and less like a typical musical.

Yeah, Coco is solid. Actually, if you haven’t seen it Onward is pretty awesome too, that scene with the van… anybody that ever toured in an econoline will enjoy it!

Cars certainly leaned heavily on its soundtrack but it wasn’t a musical.

So now that I’ve lost all credibility as anything but a dad I leave you with this…

(Which I did listen to today, so technically I’m not derailing the thread)

Onward was better than I though it would be.

Love Brainiac. Tragic the way it ended, they were on the precipice of something huge.

This record has been starting at me from the shelf for a few days. I forgot what it sounded like other than being some sort of cosmic-themed atmospheric black metal. It took til side C for this song to kick in and remember why I liked this in the first place
