Now Playing... What are you Listening to Right Now?

This might have been my favorite song from the first Punk-O-Rama album. Feeling nostalgic today, guess!

One of my all-time favorite project to come out of the Province of Quebec, launched an album out of the blue this week (their other releases came out in 1999 and 2012 respectively).
Gros Mené combines the forces of singer/songwriter Fred Fortin and guitarist/Galaxie frontman Olivier Langevin. They offer a mélange of stoner rock and dirty blues, and fuzzy goodness ensues.

Bob Dylan and Merle were appearing at Davidson College in '06 so we made the 5 min. trip. Terrible acoustics and Merle never showed. Bob had on a straw hat and I never saw him look up. We did get a concert poster! (y)
I've got no use for Dylan but we saw Arlo Guthrie just up the road a couple years ago and he was phenomenal

When I was 10 years old I moved in with my dad who was living in a Franciscan monastery in Malibu. Los Lobos has just released Kiko and my dad rocked that album day and night. I think that him growing up half Mexican and half white in Southern California made Los Lobos really identifiable for him, and I'm glad for it because they've stayed with me in the 30 years since.

Anyways, if you've never listened to Kiko you should do yourself a favor and give it a go. David Hidalgo is brilliant.

This is an advertisement for a fancy theremin but it's effective. I've only spent a little time with a theremin but man I'm impressed with this dude's intonation and phrasing.

It’s been a rough(although short) week at my new job. Lost my dream job last week due to down sizing. Been listening to a lot of angry Tool on my brand new one hour commute. Here’s Hush off of Opiate.

That opening line had just been hitting me in the feels lately.

Sorry to hear about the job, man. That's a drag. Hopefully the new gig gets better.
