Good show. Zach apparently busted up his leg at a prior show, so he sat throughout, but they delivered.
No "Mayor of Flavortown" that I could see. But I did see video of him from a different show.

Get Happy! is such a great album.
The bass work in this song was always some of my favorite: the tone Bruce gets is the ideal Platonic form of what a P bass ought to sound like. And it's a driving bass line while also also keeping melody around the vocals and it's mixed so out in front which just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
I've always loved how Elvis layered his vocals on his albums as well - doing his own backup vocals and singing over himself and it just works so well and is something that always stuck out to me as somewhat unique about him.
Anyways, here's the song - King Horse

I don't dislike it but also not something I need feel like I need more of right now. I wasn't sure what to expect exactly. His vocal register and the piano made me draw some stylistic connections to Springsteen I guess

You mention him frequently enough and he's recognizable enough that I was like hmm I should see that this is all about. Was gonna ask you at some point but never got around to it, so your post above and my relative availability to listen to a song at the moment was enough motivation to check it out. I love discovering new to me music as well as relistening to stuff I don't like to see if I've changed my mindI figured it wouldn't really be up your alley, which is why I'm stoked you checked it out. I think that EC is probably my favorite artist. He's the only artist that I've really ever obsessed over, I guess. One of these days I'll go through and post up my EC vinyl collection. If you ever have an interest in hearing more let me know.
For the time being, here he is covering Knocking on Heaven's Door with his old pub rock band Flip City, when he was still Declan MacManus.

I found out last night that my cousin George was taken off life support - he apparently had an infection that got in to his blood last year and he never really recovered and things went down hill for him very fast these past couple of weeks.
We weren't close as he was about 10 years older than me growing up but I have some good memories of my time with him. He was an incredible musician - a classically trained bassist who is also a really great guitar player, writer, and singer. He did a lot of work with Pete Anderson, who produced the studio albums he did make, and if you're a fan of Dwight Yoakam you probably know who he is.
His CD is the only one I have in my car, and it's been in my CD player since he sent it to me years ago. I got in this morning and gave it a listen. I wish he had more of his music online but he wasn't really big on social media or anything like that.
Anyways, I just wanted to share a couple of his songs. If you like Americana/country you might enjoy this.
