Now and Then's eventful journey to fruition took place over five decades and is the product of conversations and collaborations between the four Beatles that go on to this day. The long mythologised John Lennon demo was first worked on in February 1995 by Paul, George and Ringo as part of The Beatles Anthology project but it remained unfinished, partly because of the impossible technological challenges involved in working with the vocal John had recorded on tape in the 1970s. For years it looked like the song could never be completed. But in 2022 there was a stroke of serendipity. A software system developed by Peter Jackson and his team, used throughout the production of the documentary series Get Back, finally opened the way for the uncoupling of John’s vocal from his piano part. As a result, the original recording could be brought to life and worked on anew with contributions from all four Beatles. This remarkable story of musical archaeology reflects The Beatles’ endless creative curiosity and shared fascination with technology. It marks the completion of the last recording that John, Paul and George and Ringo will get to make together and celebrates the legacy of the foremost and most influential band in popular music history.

I almost don’t want to listen to this. I’m a huge Beatles fan and I loved the anthology back in my teens. But I’m not sure how I feel about a song in which John had little to no input really… (just like the others in the anthology btw)

Right? That tiny desk was so soulful and sad. Loved it.
 
This might be a polarizing and sacrilegous for some, but I love this album. It’s got my favorite Metallica guitar tones. It’s the first Metallica album I bought. I was 12 when it came out. Hands down my favorite track on the album is mercyful fate. This album led me down the road to a lot great music. Thin lizzy, mercyful fate, misfits…. But mostly it’s the guitar tone and production that stand out me. It’s seems less compressed and a little livelier than other Metallica studio albums.

Hahahaha, "So F*cking What" came on the radio last night! Good Times
 
I answered an advert last Sunday, some guys were looking for a Gypsy-Jazz / Rockabilly bass-player.

I hauled my doghouse down to the end-of-the-Earth-address given and...



Three acoustic guitars launched into that song above with no mention of what we were playing, then "oh by the way we tune down to A432"; I thought "Hmm sounds like a Tool song."

A fiddle player joined a spell later... "oh, we also tune down a whole step", and with no keys yet mentioned let alone song names launched into anutter sumahingamajigger,


Methinkering this time-lapse "Hmm Cornell..." thinkage I, "mehbe" ...

And so I staid the corse [sic],
Me just flying completely blind without an IFR certificate, yet somehow I landed the albatross.


Afterwards back at my outpost I hunted on yee ol' TouYube and managed to find the above approximations of what I was cold-cocked with, and put 'm on repeat.
Squinty John or Fiddler Dave, if yee be reading this somehow, know that you prepped me well for such undertakerings.


A week later and once more into the breech go I, but...
On the as yet unanswered agenda of info gathering:
Can someone PLEASE tell me which one is the Gypsy-Jazz and t'other Rockabilly?

Cornell, definitely gypsy jazz. Tool, rocability. - There ya go. That's my tidbit of fan-fiction for the week :ROFLMAO:
 
Well, rehearsal/jam thing was cancelled. Glad I phoned first, before packing the DB into the car and travelling to the opposite side of the city. 🙄

So I'm listening to a whole swag of Japanese surf and garage rock. Too may to list them all, but here's one of my favourite bands (usually a trio, here a quartet):
