NTE Electronics has gone out of business

NTE was a small New Jersey company that was a source of transistors that were often out of stock elsewhere, including several Ge transistors.
However, I just noticed that they went out of business 2 months ago.
Apparently a company called Vetco Electronics has purchased their inventory, and will sell them until they're gone.

So if you've thought about getting some of their transistors, now might be the time.
I bought some 2N5210's & 2N5089's from NTE Direct a couple of years ago...

Can you still get them direct? I'm always looking for a good deal. I wonder if they have any going out of business type deals out there
 
NTE was in trouble 2 years ago, but were privately bought out then - and only now have finally failed.
NTE Direct also seems to have gone with them.
AFAIK (and I didn't dig very deeply), Vetco bought all their remaining stock - I haven't checked what their prices are.
NTE was a good supplier, e.g., I bought some 2N5210's for $0.18/ea and they were great - all in spec.
 
They were huge when I was working at the TV repair shop. There was a local vendor or two, and we had bins of NTE parts.

I even had a reverse engineered version of their QuickCross software that could be used to "reverse search" the NTE part number back to it's manufacturer part number equivalent.

imho if you didn't have this, it was pointless buying from NTE ... that said I'd buy NTE123 from the local shop and you'd absolutely need a component tester because they'd hit the entire spectrum of gain ranges
