Here's another Boss OD-1, this is @Robert 's latest layout.

This one is based on the more recent production OD-1's that have the BJT input/output buffers as well as using a 4558 Dual opamp instead of the 3403 Quad opamps.

Having recently build the Quad Opamp version of the OD-1 it was interesting to compare. They definitely sound different. I know there's a lot of hype around the Quad opamp version being "better" and you can get your current build OD-1 modded by AnalogMan to the Quad version.

Good thing for me, I know some people and can just build and have both hahahah.

Hard to say which I like better, both cool sounding lo-fi overdrives and a piece of dirt pedal history.

I used some ginooowine 1S1588's for the clippers as per the BOM that I got from Retroampolis. But I swapped out the BJT's for 2SC1518's.
JRC4558.

I'm behind on demo's, I'll get one comparing the two versions I've built soon.

Finally getting caught up on some demos. Here's the first one.

Using my Les Paul that's now got the Wolftone Legends in it. Can't say there's a huge difference between these and the Durbano 59's that were in it. The Durbano's were slightly brighter and the Legends slightly meatier. These Legends are his stock wind, I didn't have him do the underwind on the neck like the other set that's now in my Eastman.

I think the Wolfies work better since the Goldtop was a brighter guitar with the maple cap. The Durbano 59's are now in my PRS 245 which is a slightly darker guitar (all mahogany).

I'm comparing it to my Aion Quark build which uses the quad op amp and has no buffers. I think they both sound great. Not sure if the nuances are coming across on the video or not but the quad sounds a little meatier and the Dual sounds like it has a bit more clarity and definition.

Cool overdrives!!
