One Control Blue Bee BJF

Just curious about how this is different from the Honey Bees I've tried. Still sounds a bit fuzzy on the bass strings but could be a good OD.

Sounds great, a bit fuzzy but not too much and little bit grunt, but not too much. This could kick my rat from the board.

There is also Blue Bee Custom with a bit more beef for the use with single coil guitars.
My idea now is to make both versions switchable in one pcb.

It's been a few years since I've obsessed over BJF designs, but there seemed to be a few 'tried and true' recipes that Bjorn uses. Things like splitting the Nature control into two pots for Bass and Treble (Pink Purple Fuzz 3k > 4k) or sticking a Baby Pink Booster in front for higher gain (Uber Bee, Model H) or even using a post-gain High Cut as the Treble control (Dyna Red Distortion).

If I had to guess, I'd say the higher gain places a Baby Pink Booster as a preamp in front of drive circuit based on the Blueberry Bass OD. (The 3BOD is the Honeybee's predecessor and sounds remarkably good on guitar!)

You know I've built a heap of BJF designs but never got around to the Blueberry. I should. He is a very clever chap but I almost always find his pedals good but never end up using them. The two I use from time to time are the Baby Blue and Strawberry Red ODs. I've even built a Baby Blue with a bass control and various Strawberry Reds with slight modifications. The Strawberry Red is great with a Strat. It's just that I have pedals I prefer.

But I do like to see what he does. I might not understand it 100% (or even 50%!) but it's usually interesting.
